Darla Rasmussen

Darla Rasmussen (Blackkettle) also known as Red Butterfly Woman from Siksika Nation, is a mother of two active boys, a loving partner, a volunteer in her community and a lifelong student in self-discovery.

Born in Calgary and raised in Abbotsford, she has endured many challenges and built up an internal strength that has led her to where she is today.

Being raised in a home of addiction, domestic violence and other dysfunctions was not an ideal upbringing for her or any child, however it is her life experience that has nursed her heart, mind, body and spirit to love, encourage and support others going through life hardships and transitions.

Darla’s dream of a better life inspired her to leave home at the start of her grade 12 year. Education was always her focus and she made school her “home”. After a well-earned graduation she continued studies at the University of the Fraser Valley and Douglas College. Darla continues to participate in any training and education opportunities to learn and grow mentally and spiritually.

After a year of intense training Darla graduated in 2012 as a certified Life Skills Coach. With the influence of her Indigenous roots she offers workshops to a variety of organizations, agencies and community members by bringing them together and gathering them around the big drum and sharing her cultural teachings in sacred space.
You will find Darla charming, graceful and genuine to work with because she will come to you with an open mind and open heart to give and receive love.
